The First Nations Executive Education offers high-level programs that develop the skills of current and future leaders of communities, while aiming to promote and showcase the economic successes of First Nations.
FNEE is currently in an intense recruitment period for the upcoming cohorts of the following programs:
- For entrepreneurs and business CEOs (starting on November 22nd)
- For chiefs/grand chiefs and board chairs (bilingual cohort starting on December 7th)

Projet d’application mobile de langue abénakise : Neg8nsosakilal8mow8gan – La voix de nos ancêtres (In French only)
La Nation abénakise est fière d’annoncer le lancement de son projet d’application mobile de langue abénakise intitulée « Neg8nsosakilal8mow8gan : la voix de nos ancêtres ». Ce projet, qui vise à revitaliser la langue abénakise, s’inscrit dans la poursuite des efforts déployés par les membres de la Nation pour préserver et promouvoir leur patrimoine culturel.
L’application mobile, disponible gratuitement sur les plateformes iOS et Android ainsi que sur le web, proposera une centaine de mots usuels à travers différentes leçons d’apprentissage, avec une intégration continue de nouveau contenu. Les utilisateurs pourront également entendre la voix de leurs ancêtres grâce à des enregistrements remastérisés. La grande majorité des images ont été réalisées par une jeune abénakise de W8linak, contribuant ainsi à la transmission intergénérationnelle des savoirs.
Le projet « Neg8nsosakilal8mow8gan : la voix de nos ancêtres » est financé par une subvention de Patrimoine canadien de 124 895 $. Son objectif est multiple : d’abord, faciliter l’apprentissage de la langue abénakise et accroître le nombre de locuteurs de cette langue. Ensuite, il répond à un besoin exprimé par les membres de la Nation et vise à assurer la pérennité et la survie de la langue abénakise. De plus, grâce à une application numérique ludique et éducative, le projet cherche à susciter l’intérêt des jeunes générations et renforcer leur sentiment d’appartenance à la Nation et de fierté envers leur patrimoine culturel. Enfin, en offrant un outil didactique accessible à tous pour l’apprentissage d’une langue autochtone reconnue au Canada, le projet permet de partager cette richesse linguistique avec l’ensemble de la population canadienne.
La langue est un élément fondamental de la culture et de l’identité d’un peuple. En lançant ce projet, la Nation abénakise souhaite préserver son patrimoine culturel, promouvoir la langue abénakise et offrir à un large public l’opportunité de découvrir cette langue autochtone.

National Day of Truth and Reconciliation 2023
Our teams donned their orange shirts on National Day of Truth and Reconciliation to pay tribute to the survivors and victims of residential schools. The past few days have also been significant for the history of our people and our Nation, with the National Day for Awareness of Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, and the Major Rogers Massacre. These events remind us of the importance of preserving our culture and traditions, despite the challenges we have faced. Together, we can achieve great things. Together, we can honor the memory of our missing, commemorate our history, and work toward a future where truth and reconciliation prevail.

ELECTION 2023 | MAJOR CHANGES IN THE ELECTORAL PROCESS
- Application of the First Nations Elections Act and the First Nations Elections Regulations.
- The term of elected officials is 4 years.
- The election period is 65 days.
- Candidates must accept their nomination in writing (it is no longer automatic following the acceptance of the proposal and the support of their candidacy), and they must provide a $250 deposit (by certified check, money order, bank draft, or cash) to the election chairperson no later than October 11, 2023, at 6:00 PM. The $250.00 deposit will be refunded if the candidate obtains more than 5% of the total votes cast (votes cast, accepted and valid).
- Postal ballots will be sent by mail only if the voter requests it in writing using the prescribed form and accompanied by a copy of identification (such as an Indian status card, driver’s license, health insurance card).
- There will be an advance poll on Saturday, November 18, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, at the community hall located at 58 Waban-Aki Street, Odanak.
- Possibility of an automatic recount on November 28, 2023, following the conclusion of the vote count, which will be triggered when the difference between a winning candidate and the candidate in second place is equal to or less than 5 votes.
- An elector can challenge the election by filing an application either with the Federal Court or the Superior Court on the grounds that there has been a violation of the Act or Regulation that may have influenced the outcome. This application must be filed within 30 days following the election.
